Harambee Stars assistant captain Boniface Muchiri has lifted the lid on the kind of life he aspires to live outside of the pitch.

Speaking during an interview on a local TV station on Sunday, August 17, 2025, Muchiri, who was subbed in the second half and created an assist for the sole goal between Kenya and Zambia, stated that he loves a low-key life.

“I usually don’t want people to recognize me; I just want to live a simple life, to be a normal person outside the pitch and outside my job. So, it is simplicity at best because I believe in simplicity,” Muchiri said.

Cause a stir

“I would not want to pass through a street and cause a stir.”

Muchiri, a creative midfielder playing for the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), Ulinzi Stars, gave the match against Zambia a much-needed jolt after he was substituted in the second half.

His skill and poise saw Harambee Stars launch forward with a reinforced midfield, which made interceptions and supplied the attack with numerous chances.

Muchiri’s prowess, however, climaxed when he dribbled past Zambian midfielders before turning to single out Ryan Ogam, who struck the ball with his left foot to send Kenyan fans into a frenzy. Ogam became the top scorer for Tusker FC with 15 goals to his name in the last season.

As a player, Muchiri is known for his skills as a playmaker and winger. He is a creative player who is predominantly featured on the left wing but can also operate as a right winger or in the number 10 role.

Plays in tight spaces

He has a knack for finding solutions in tight spaces and possesses the ability to deliver a killer pass. Muchiri is also noted for his dead-ball prowess, and his style of play is characterized by his energy on the ball, his one-on-one dribbling ability, and his excellent combination play.

He thrives in creating overloading scenarios on the flanks and is comfortable attacking vacated spaces.

Muchiri also possesses good strength and speed and has shown good tactical maturity, with an exceptional ability to dictate the tempo of the game.
