GSU, KPA and KPC storm Kipchumba Karori volleyball tournament finals

General Service Unit (GSU) booked a place in the men’s final of the Kipchumba Karori International Tournament 2025 after a dominant straight-sets victory over arch-rivals Kenya Prisons in the semi-finals.

GSU won the closely contested match 3–0, taking the sets 25–21, 25–22 and 25–22. Their journey to the semi-finals had also been emphatic, having earlier brushed aside Uganda’s Nemostars 3–0 (25–20, 27–25, 25–21).

Kenya Prisons reached the semi-final stage after defeating KCB Bank 3–1 in the quarter-finals, winning 25–23, 25–22, losing the third set 23–25, before sealing the match 25–20.

Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) also secured a place in the men’s final following a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Chema, with set scores of 25–19, 20–25 and 26–24.

In the women’s category, Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) advanced to the final after overpowering Kenya Prisons 3–0 in a thrilling encounter.

KPC edged the first two sets 26–24 and 34–32 before comfortably taking the third set 25–17.

KCB Bank also earned a slot in the women’s final after edging out DCI 2–1, winning 25–23, losing 20–25, and clinching the decider 28–26.

The finalists will battle it out for the coveted Ksh1 million winning prize.

The three-day tournament, now in its second edition, attracted more than 188 teams and was hosted at Eldoret Polytechnic, further cementing its status as one of the region’s fastest-growing international volleyball events.
