Former secondary schools football champions Kakamega High, popularly known as  Green Commandos, have launched an initiative targeting its fans and alumni as a way of cushioning the school from the heavy burden of shouldering the team’s costs as it plays in Football Kenya Federation Division One League in this coming season.

Green Commandos chairman Isaac Kwoba revealed that they are leaving nothing to chance as they strive to put up a proper structure for sustainability of the team.

“We want this team to remain strong and maintain its place among the top performing schools and clubs in the country,”

“We have therefore resolved to come out with various support packages targeting our fans across the country that come as follows:

 “Platinum that goes at Sh100, 000, Gold (Sh48000), Silver (Sh36,000), Bronze (Sh24,000), Commando (Sh12000) and Mwanainchi (Sh6000).

“These annual packages can be made in instalments on a daily, weekly or  monthly basis. This is the best way to boost our financial kitty.

He urged the well-wishers and other corporate partners to come on board and support the team.

He added that the team will continue playing its role in producing the best players for top clubs and the national team.

“Looking at the latest list of players called for national team assignments,  we have three players who passed through Kakamega High .

“Goal keeper Brian Bwire, defenders Erick Ouma, Joseph Okumu, and winger Clifton Miheso are some of our products,” he added.

Currently the team has been separated into two with Hesborn Nyabinge handling the Division One side while Eliud Omukuyia is in charge of the school team.
