Gor’s red hot Omala continues scoring, tipped for Stars call-up
Just who shall stop on-form Gor Mahia striker Benson Omala from driving the ball to the back of the net?
Omala is at the top of his game and is currently seemingly unstoppable.
“I love scoring and I will continue doing so as long as my body allows it,’’ said Omala who has reportedly left several clubs outside Kenyan borders drooling over his services including Simba (Tanzania), AS Kigali (Rwanda), Motema Pembe (DR Congo), Asante Kotoko (Ghana) and Enyimba (Nigeria).
A quick-paced marksman who is capable of blasting balls with either leg or soaring above the rest to score through headers, Omala has carried the club single-handedly on his shoulders with his goal of producing a magical performance.
Omala, who is making scoring seem so easy, is not only a huge hit but he is also a penalty-box assassin and is famed for his lethal shooting ability, notwithstanding his precise and tactical style of play.
The Kisumu Day High School alumnus has become the toast of Kogalo fans having hit an incredible 12 goals so far in the top tier league action.
“Nitaendela kufunga na si tafadhali ( I shall continue banging IN goals and I’m not asking for any favours for it) ,” said Omala while declaring that he is not yet done yet in his marksmanship lineage.
Omala is widely considered Kenya’s next great striker and has even drawn comparisons with the likes of Oliech (Dennis) and Olunga (Micheal) and is Gor’s motor almost to a fault.
There are, however, speculations that the 21-year-old will be a one-season wonder, which remains to be seen, but for now, he is basking in his latest glory.
This was the man who was the mastermind of Gor’s 2-1 win over Kenya Police at the Nyayo National Stadium at the weekend in a result which left Sirkal at the summit of the league with 37 points ahead of Nzoia Sugar who have amassed 33 points.
Gor’s frontline is abuzz and Omala is set to be reinvigorated in the goal search by potential signing IN UgandaN Patrick Kaddu.
The 27-year-old is available following confirmation by his parent club Kitara FC, and it’s understood a fee has been agreed upon in principle, with only the final details remaining to be completed.
“Our player Patrick Kaddu will fly to Kenya to complete negotiations with Gor Mahia FC on Tuesday next week,” read a statement from his parent club Kitara FC.
Kaddu joined Kitara four months ago following the expiration of his contract at Uganda top-flight side KCCA FC which he rejoined in January 2022.
Kaddu has netted a whopping 13 goals in 12 matches hoisting his employers to the top of the league. According to reports, talks between Kaddu’s agent and Gor are in advanced stages after the resilient workaholic proved his worth in front of goal.
In December 2022, Kaddu beat Uganda Premier League players to the Player of Month award for scoring four goals and an assist.
He was among the several players KCCA released in the transfer window as the Naguru based side sought to re-invent itself following three consecutive trophy less seasons.
The move left Kaddu with the option of joining Uganda Premier League club after efforts to attract offers in the region did not yield fruits.
He was heavily linked with a move to SC Villa but the deal collapsed after the veteran striker decided to venture into the second tier FUFA Big League leaving fans shocked by the move.
Kitara FC reportedly offered him the leeway to sign for any club in the region if a deal is presented. The Masindi-based club were relegated from the top-tier league in 2020/21 season which ended prematurely due to the Covid-19 pandemic. At the time, Kitara were at the rock bottom with 13 points in 27 matches.
