Mugisha to the rescue as Gor Mahia salvage point against KCB
Gor Mahia managed to collect a point after fighting back to a 1-1 draw against KCB in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League match at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday, October 1, 2023.
Rogers Mugisha scored the vital goal for the reigning champions, who are now winless in two matches after a previous 1-1 draw against Kakamega Homeboyz. On the other hand, KCB came into this match looking for another win after beating Homeboyz 2-0 in a midweek match.
Gor Mahia, KCB chances
Meanwhile, Gor Mahia’s clear chance came in the seventh minute when Patrick Sibomana found Kelvin Okumu with a pinpoint pass. However, Bryne Odhiambo, in KCB’s goal, managed to clear the danger.
After surviving a number of threats from Gor Mahia, the Bankers finally scored in the 17th minute when Apollo Otieno found the back of the net from close range.
A second clear chance for KCB to extend the lead came five minutes after the hour mark, but the Gor Mahia backline was solid enough to thwart the danger.
A combination of Lawrence Juma, Alpha Onyango, and Kevin Simiyu was the most notable danger K’Ogalo produced in the second half, but the final effort was fruitless as it went out.
However, in the 89th minute, Mugisha scored to ensure Gor Mahia did not drop points. The Ugandan was named the man of the match afterward.
