Gor Mahia put 4 past Posta Rangers, open huge gap at the top

Gor Mahia’s return to winning ways saw them open a 10-point lead at the top following a 4-0 victory over Posta Rangers.

The Football Kenya Federation Premier League match was held at the Kenyatta Stadium, with Gor Mahia claiming not only a clean sheet but a win by a healthy margin.

Meanwhile, Benson Omala scored the opening goal in the second minute, with Bryson Wesonga providing the assist. This is Omala’s second goal in two straight games, and his tally rises to 11.

The margin could have been made bigger had clear chances for Shariff Musa and Rooney Onyango been converted into goals.

Sylvester Owino scored the second to give the Premier League defending champions, who came close to finding the back of the net a few minutes earlier through Omala.

A chance by Lawrence Juma was another instance in which K’Ogalo failed to extend their lead at the time they were dominant.

Odhiambo’s brace

Austin Odhiambo scored the second with ten minutes remaining until the end of regulation time. The former AFC Leopards attacking midfielder scored the fourth one in the 87th minute.

The big win is a reprieve for head coach Johnathan McKinstry and his boys after the dramatic elimination from the FKF Cup by Denmark FC last weekend in Ukunda, Mombasa.

Although Tusker were winners against Muhoroni, they will be content with the fact that 10 points separate them from their rivals.

The win against Posta Rangers just shows how determined Gor Mahia are as they hope to defend the league title.
