The record Kenyan Premier League champions, Gor Mahia FC, have confirmed that Ghanaian midfielder Enock Morrison sustained a calf injury after being involved in a road accident en route to training.

According to the club statement released on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, the midfielder did not sustain serious injuries as the club prepares for the 98th edition of the famous Mashemeji Derby, a fierce clash against arch-rivals AFC Leopards on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at the Nyayo National Stadium.

Morrison slightly injured

”Midfielder Enock Morrisson sustained a calf injury in an accident en route to training; the medical update is positive – no fractures, he is able to walk and has been discharged. Wishing him a speedy recovery,” Gor Mahia said via X.

Morrison’s incident comes days after four of his teammates, among them Austine Odhiambo and Fidel Origa, were involved in an accident on Friday, November 29, 2025, en route to training. Luckily, all four were treated for minor injuries at a city hospital and discharged.

Mashemeji Derby postponed

Meanwhile, Gor Mahia will face AFC Leopards in their next league outing on Sunday after confirming the postponement of the first leg of the 2025/2026 Mashemeji Derby over the unavailability of a suitable venue.

Initially, the official date and venue for the first leg of the 25/26 Mashemeji Derby were slated for Sunday, November 30, 2025, at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

The change in date and venue came from the fact that Nairobi United had booked to use the Kasarani facility for their 25/26 CAF Confederation Cup Group Stage clash against Democratic Republic of Congo outfit AS Maniema Union, where Naibois lost 1-0 to the Congolese team at home on Sunday, November 30, 2025.

After Kasarani Stadium was booked, Nyayo Stadium became an alternative, but the venue was also reserved by State House for the Monday, December 1, 2025, World AIDS Day national ceremony, with preparations scheduled to begin as early as Saturday, November 29, 2025.

In a letter dated Wednesday, November 26, 2025, addressed to Football Kenya Federation Leagues and Competitions Manager Frank Ogolla, Gor Mahia Secretary General Nicanor Arum said the club, as the designated host, had faced significant challenges in securing a venue for the SportPesa League fixture.

The letter stated that Gor Mahia had been “unable to secure a suitable venue for the fixture” and was therefore requesting that the derby be postponed to a later date to be communicated by FKF.
