Gor Mahia keeper Omondi widens gap in Golden Glove race

Gor Mahia goalkeeper Kevin Omondi has further solidified his reputation as a defensive stalwart in the FKF Premier League, achieving an impressive 12 clean sheets in the 18 matches played so far.

This accomplishment puts him on track to match a record he set earlier in the season.

Omondi’s recent outstanding performance includes a remarkable streak of four consecutive clean sheets. Should he maintain this form and secure three more clean sheets, he will equal the impressive seven-match clean sheet run he achieved earlier in the season.

During his stellar run between October 7 and November 26, Omondi showcased his goalkeeping prowess by denying notable teams such as AFC Leopards, Tusker, Bidco United, Shabana, Kenya Police, Murang’a Seal, and Muhoroni Youth.

In the last two matches before the Christmas break, Omondi continued to shine, adding two more clean sheets as Gor Mahia secured victories over FC Talanta and Bandari.

Omondi’s defensive excellence is evident in the limited number of goals conceded, with only six teams managing to breach his defenses.

Bandari FC’s Joseph Ochuka has moved to nine clean sheets after 18 FKF Premier League matches, closing in on Tusker FC’s Brian Bwire.

Posta Rangers’ Patrick Matasi has risen to eight clean sheets. Posta Rangers’ John Njau and Bidco United’s John Otieno have both accumulated seven clean sheets each.

Murang’a Seal’s Bonphas Munyasa has secured six clean sheet.

Gor Mahia FC continue to assert their dominance in the league, maintaining a substantial seven-point lead over second-placed Nairobi City Stars.

The defending champions remain undefeated, securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Kariobangi Sharks.

With 40 points accumulated from 11 wins and seven draws, Gor Mahia boasts an impressive defensive record, having kept 12 clean sheets in 18 matches and conceding only seven goals.

Their resilience is further highlighted by maintaining a clean sheet in the last four games.

Nairobi City Stars are delivering a commendable performance, enjoying a seven-match winning streak.

Accumulating 33 points from 10 wins, three draws, and five losses, they remain a formidable force in the league.

The team’s last defeat dates back to November 11, 2023, underlining their consistency and determination.

Tusker FC have made a significant ascent in the league, securing their ninth victory of the season and extending their unbeaten run to eight matches. The last five matches have seen Tusker emerge victorious.

In the league standings, Posta Rangers and Bandari jointly hold the third spot with 30 points each. Kakamega Homeboyz and KCB Football are closely trailing, both tied at 28 points.

Kenya Police follow suit with 27 points, while Bidco United and Murang’a Seal find themselves level with 24 points. FC Talanta are in close pursuit with 23 points.

AFC Leopards are on a commendable four-match unbeaten run, securing victories in their last two matches and accumulating a total of 21 points.

Ulinzi Stars and Kariobangi Sharks share the same points at 18, emphasizing the tight competition in the mid-table.

Shabana and Sofapaka both have 17 points, reflecting the closely contested battles within the league.

In the relegation zone, Muhoroni Youth stand with 16 points, while Nzioa Sugar sit at the bottom with 13 points.
