Gor Mahia coach oozes confidence ahead of Mozzart Bet Cup final
By Kenneth Mwenda, June 28, 2025Gor Mahia head coach has assured fans that the team is fully prepared for the Mozzart Bet Cup final against Nairobi United set for Sunday, June 29, 2025, at the Ulinzi Sports Complex.
“I think so far our preparation has gone the way we had planned for it, and being the final day today, I think the motivation in the camp is very high,” the coach said in a video posted on Gor Mahia’s X account on Saturday, June 28, 2025. “Everybody is looking forward to our match tomorrow… It’s a must-win situation for us. It’s a final, you don’t have any room for errors.”
The stakes are high in this final, with not just a national trophy on the line, but also a ticket to the CAF Confederation Cup. For Gor Mahia, it is their last chance to claim silverware this season after falling short in the FKF Premier League, where they lost the title to Kenya Police FC.
Despite the pressure, the coach believes his players are ready for the task ahead.
“I think our players are mature enough, are professionals enough to go and do a good job tomorrow. They know what is at stake, and we’ve planned as a team what we are supposed to do tomorrow.”
Gor, united on a collision course
Gor Mahia have had a strong run to the final. They cruised past KSG 3-0 in the round of 64, hammered GAS FC 5-0 in the next round, and beat both Bandari and Kariobangi Sharks 2-0 in the following rounds. The semifinal was tougher, with Murang’a Seal pushing them to a 2-2 draw before Gor won 5-3 on penalties.

Their opponents, Nairobi United, are the story of the tournament. The second-tier side have knocked out four top-flight teams on their way to the final, including Tusker, KCB, and Kakamega Homeboyz. They are also this year’s FKF National Super League champions, and a win on Sunday would complete a historic double.
But Gor Mahia are not taking chances.
“They know it,” the coach said about his players’ awareness of the occasion. “Let’s wait and see after the 90 minutes.”
The final promises to be a gripping battle between a hungry giant and a fearless underdog, with continental football awaiting the victor.
The third-place playoff between Mara Sugar and Murang’a Seal will also take place, as both teams look to end their campaigns on a high.
