Soccer delegates have stood firm with the Football Kenya Federation amid a representation war with Murang’a Seal over Saturday’s annual general meeting.

FKF is set to hold its meeting on Saturday, but its decision to lock out Seal’s fronted representative, Hussein Mohammed, has caused a lot of friction.

FKF holds that Mohammed is not a registered member of the Premier League club and is therefore ineligible to represent them in the meeting.

Seal state that they have the power to send anyone to the meeting, and FKF has no business dictating who that should be.

Delegates who converged in Nairobi on Friday, March 15, 2024, have thrown their weight behind FKF in the ongoing tussle with Seal.

“We have been shocked by recent communication from one of our members that the AGM congregation will be comprised of flower girls.

“I need to rectify that the federation has a constitution, which is a cornerstone that guides the FKF AGM.

“As clubs, we will not allow any member to knowingly or unknowingly disrespect the FKF constitution. As members, we want to categorically state that we are going to follow the rules of the constitution,” Swaleh Yusuf, Gogo Boys chair, who spoke on behalf of National Super League clubs, said.

Patrick Korir, the City Stars’ chair, who spoke on behalf of Premier League clubs, affirmed what Swaleh said.

“The most important thing is that the clubs must adhere to the constitution. If any club does not adhere to the articles in the constitution, it must not create a crisis.

“If you do not want to conform to what is in the constitution, then leave us alone. 

Constitutional adherence

FKF Mombasa chairperson Lilian Kazungu affirmed their commitment to adherence to the constitution during the AGM and in the upcoming elections.

“Tunajua kila chama ina katiba yake. Sisi tunakuwa guided na katiba yetu na tunasema tuachwe tufanye mikutano yetu. Na tuachwe tufanye uchaguzi yetu kulingana na katiba yetu,” Kazungu said.

On her part, Lucy Githinji, the FKF chair in Nyandarua County, said they will not allow any kind of disruption.

“I am here to echo what my colleagues have said. This is not the first AGM we are having. What is special about this one that one wants to come and disrupt?

“It is our duty to protect the FKF constitution, and we cannot allow non-members to come and disrupt us.

“Anyone who dares to come and interrupt our AGM, we will use everything legal to ensure no one interrupts our meeting,” she said.
