FKF Premier League: Bandari FC dissolve Board of Trustees in club restructuring
By Joel Masibo, December 9, 2025The Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) has officially dissolved the 2025 Bandari Football Club Board of Trustees, marking a major administrative shake-up aimed at revamping the club’s structures and improving performance in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League.
The decision was communicated through an internal memo dated Tuesday, December 9, 2025 and signed by Capt. William K. Ruto, the Managing Director of KPA. The memo was addressed to all General and Divisional Managers in Mombasa, with copies sent to Football Kenya Federation President Hussein Mohammed and the Manager of Security Services.

Appreciation and dissolution
According to the memo, the board had been constituted earlier in the year through Internal Memo MMN/2/1/07 dated 3rd March 2025 as part of KPA’s annual appointment of standing committees. The Managing Director commended the board for what he described as valuable stewardship throughout the year.
The 18-member Board of Trustees, chaired by Stephen Toya, included key figures such as:
Managing Director – Patron
Twaha Mbarak – Vice Chairman
Tony Kibwana – Club CEO
Ayub Nyata – Treasurer
Trustees, including Nurein Shakuwa, Cleopatra Taabu, John Kiptoo Maritim, Patricia Manthi, Vincent Kosgei, Ricky Solomon, Salim Ali, Mohamed Madigi, and Dave Buchere – Secretary.
Despite the board’s service, the memo indicates that the evolving competitiveness of the FKF Premier League necessitated a restructuring process to better position the club for future success.
Tony Kibwana appointed Acting CEO
Pending the reconstitution of a new Board of Trustees, management has vested the stewardship of the club in Tony Kibwana, who also serves as the Manager of Security Services. Kibwana will take over as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of Bandari FC with immediate effect.

The move places Kibwana at the centre of the club’s transition period, giving him the mandate to oversee operations and lay the groundwork for the club’s strategic reorganisation.
KPA’s management has emphasised that the dissolution is part of a broader plan to re-strategise the club’s performance in the FKF Premier League. This comes shortly after Ken Odhiambo was sacked as the club’s head coach in the eralier stages of the ongoing FKF Premier League. Mohamed Borji was later appointed in the place of Odhiambo.
The Mombasa-based outfit is struggling to gain footing in the league. The side was beaten 1-0 by APS Bomet in their previous league assignments, with the wounded Gor Mahia coming in as their next opponent.
