Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Hussein Mohammed has said the federation is implementing stronger financial management measures as part of a wider plan to clear its debts and rebuild trust with FIFA.

In a statement shared on his X on Friday, October 31, 2025, Hussein said that his discussions with the global football body focused on improving the financial governance and accountability structures of FKF after he visits the FIFA Regional Office in Kigali.

“A productive day yesterday at the FIFA Regional Office in Kigali, strengthening our financial governance framework under the guidance of Christoph Suppiger, Head of Financial Governance at FIFA,” he said.

He expressed gratitude to the FIFA team for their support in helping the federation streamline its financial operations and align them with international standards.

“Appreciation to Maryem Atuok, Financial Governance Manager for Member Associations at FIFA, Solomon Mudege, FIFA Head of Development Programmes in Africa, and the entire FIFA team for their warm hospitality and continued support,” Hussein stated.

The FKF president emphasised that the federation is determined to reduce its debt portfolio, a problem that has long affected operations and delayed development programs in Kenyan football.

He said the ongoing reforms are meant to restore transparency and position FKF as a credible partner to sponsors, clubs, and international football organisations.

“As FKF works to reduce its debt portfolio and prioritise the upcoming Technical Centre in Machakos, we look forward to unlocking more opportunities with FIFA in the coming days,” Hussein said.

The Technical Centre in Machakos is one of FKF’s key projects aimed at improving infrastructure and providing training facilities for coaches, referees, and players.

Hussein’s statement comes at a time when the federation is under pressure to demonstrate financial discipline and ensure that funds from partners are used effectively to grow the game at all levels.

His remarks are signs of a renewed effort to rebuild confidence both locally and internationally as FKF seeks to stabilise its financial position and invest more in football development programs across the country.
