Nairobi United skipper John Otieno has termed a right mental attitude as crucial to the team’s stunning campaign in the 2025 Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Cup.

The National Super League(NSL) outfit made headlines with their giant-killing display coming to the fore in a penalty shoot-out win over KCB in Dandora on Saturday, April 12.

The victory preceded a similar stunning penalty shoot-out win against Tusker FC served earlier on in the competition’s round 32 ties.

Taking to his Facebook after the match, Otieno stated that adopting a good attitude is a key driving force in the team who secured their quarter-final spot in the cup tie competition.

“it’s never an easy road but the right attitude keeps you going,” Otieno’s statement read after the clash.

With the win, Nichalos Muyoti’s side remains in contention for a double this season.

The club is also involved in an important run to the Football Kenya Federation(FKF) Premier League in the current campaign.

Meanwhile, the defeat dealt a crushing loss to KCB, who once again came so close yet far, in their quest for clinching cup and a berth in the CAF continental games.

KCB lost the 2024 edition via match penalties to reigning champions Kenya Police FC with their quest for an improved run in this year’s edition coming to an abrupt end against the NaiBois.

Patrick Odhiambo’s charge now shifts their focus back to the league albeit a shot for the league title seemingly a tough asking from the team.

In other rounds of 16 ties played on Saturday, Gor Mahia secured its spot in the last eight with a 2-0 win over Bandari FC.

Benson Omalla marked his return to K’Ogalo ranks with a goal in the clash adding to Alpha Onyango’s strike.

William Muluya’s Kariobangi Sharks served a 3-0 hiding to Denmark FC to punch their quarterfinal ticket.

Meanwhile, the competition with three remaining games on the cards this Sunday.

Defending champions Kenya Police will extend their title defence against Kapenguria as KPL rivals Shabana FC and Kakamega Homeboyz renew their rivalry in Moi Stadium Kisumu.
