FKF boss Hussein Mohammed explains importance of CAF awards to local football

While attending the 2025 CAF Awards ceremony in Rabat, Morocco, on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, where African football comes together to celebrate the players, coaches, clubs, and national teams that have set the pace over the past year, the FKF chief said such gatherings have a positive impact on football back in Kenya.
”Events like this offer an important reflection point for all of us involved in the game. They show how far African football has come and the standards we must continue raising if we are to compete consistently at the highest level,” Mohammed said.
Importance of CAF Awards
”Kenya has every reason to be part of this wider continental conversation, and I remain committed to strengthening our place within it as we work towards building a stronger and more competitive football landscape back home,” he added.
The CAF Awards are a special event ceremony created by CAF to recognise and celebrate the outstanding African football performers.
The awards honour both individual performances and collective achievements, highlighting the talent, excellence, and commitment of those who make an impact across the continent.
The categories notably recognise the best male and female players, coaches, clubs, national teams, as well as emerging young talents.

Due to the ongoing CAF Women’s Champions League in Egypt, the winners of the CAF Women’s Coach of the Year, Women’s Interclub Player of the Year and Women’s Club of the Year will be announced at a later date.
