FKF announces restructuring plans on match branding

By , January 24, 2025

Football Kenya Federation has explained the lack of branding witnessed in recent live Kenya Premier League matches.

According to the federation, the failure has been occasioned by an ongoing restructuring effort within the new federation.

Several live KPL ties have gone on with little or no branding with banners from fans being displayed on the advertisement boards such as witnessed in Bandari clash against Shabana on Sunday, January 19, 2025, in Mombasa.

In a presser, FKF revealed that branding activities are among a raft of changes being handled at the Kandanda house. This comes after they abolished a financially unsustainable model employed by the past administration and are exploring viable alternatives.

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) acknowledges concerns raised regarding the recent lack of branding during several live FKF Premier League matches. This situation is primarily a result of ongoing restructuring efforts within the federation, which are critical to ensuring the long-term sustainability and financial health of our operations,” FKF said in the statement.

“Upon review, it has become evident that the previous approach to branding was financially unsustainable. As part of our commitment to accountability and delivering value to our sponsors, we are now exploring cost-effective solutions that align with the league’s growing ambitions,” the federation said.

The federation further says it is seeking stakeholders’ and sponsors’ opinions for the best branding practices. They have further pledged that the model to be adopted will align with the league’s new demands and allow for transparency in all parties.

“These solutions will not only address the current issues but also enhance the visibility and impact of our partners moving forward. We are actively engaging our sponsors and stakeholders to collaboratively address this matter and develop a long-term strategy that provides meaningful value to all parties.

While our efforts to streamline operations have faced anticipated resistance from individuals who thrived in the previous disorder, FKF remains steadfast in its resolve to restore integrity and professionalism across all facets of Kenyan football,” the presser concluded.

Branding remains an integral aspect of football marketing.
