FIFA appoints Kenyan ref Mary Njoroge for World Cup duty

NAIROBI: World governing body FIFA has selected Kenyan referee Mary Njoroge to officiate at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The tournament will be jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand and run between July and August. She is among 33 referees, 55 assistant referees and 19 video match officials (VMOs) selected to officiate the tournament.

Marry will represent Kenya at World event after two Kenya FIFA Referees miss world cup in Qatar following federation FIFA Ban, Peter Waweru Centre Referee and Assistant Gilbert Cheruiyot did not make an appearance at Qatar World Cup 2022.

“I am happy beyond words. This is a dream coming true. I thank God,” she told People Sport.
