Former Manchester United star Andy Cole is confident that Benni McCarthy will succeed as Harambee Stars head coach.

Cole made the comment during a coaching clinic held at Kileleshwa Primary School in Nairobi.

“I’ve always had a great relationship with Benni. I think he’ll do a good job with the Harambee Stars.

“He’s played at the highest level in Europe, won the UEFA Champions League, and coached top players—so I’d like to believe he knows exactly what he’s doing,” Cole said as quoted by a local publication.

Cole further explains what Kenyan players must do in order to get signed by top clubs in Europe.

“It’s surprising and a bit disappointing that more Kenyan players haven’t made it to the Premier League. But it’s not impossible. With hard work, focus, and the right support, they can get there. I truly believe that,” he added.

Recently, McCarthy revealed his desire to help Kenyan players sign for European clubs.

“First, we need to settle. Once we settle, if you have players that you think are worthy of playing for top teams, it will be nothing to pick up the phone and call, for example, Nottingham Forest. The manager was one of my close friends when we played in Porto,” Benni stated.

“So it will cost me nothing to call Nuno and say I have got a player here, maybe have a look at him,” the South African said.
