Equity Hawks Ladies team were in a class of their own at the weekend as they thrashed Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology (JKUAT) 83-13 in a basketball league encounter at USIU grounds.

David Maina’s charges were quick and had urgency in their play as they made light work of their clearly out-of-sorts opponents.

The former Champions dominated in every aspect of the game including winning balls and pressing their challengers to make mistakes in their own area.

This was one of thebiggest losses of the regular season for the Lynx who also missed some key players.

In another contest, Kenyatta  University beat Lady Bucks 46-31 at the USIU B venue.

Oryx had a bit of a problem in the opening stages before waking up to play and punish mistakes.

Bucks were not as clinical and committed so many fouls which affected their overall tally. At the same time, the Bucks failed to convert a lotof their free throws which came back to haunt them.

Elsewhere, Zetech Sparks silenced Strathmore Swords 65-33 in another interesting tie played in USIU Grounds. Sparks started off bright and had a lot of good balls in the rim area.

Their forwards had lots of exciting moments as they overran the defence on numerous occasions.

Swords seemed to not have the right personnel at the back to keep things calm and often momentarily relied on fast breaks to try and catch their opponents flat-footed while leaving gaps at the back.

Meanwhile, the University of Nairobi Terrorgot back to winning ways following a slim 49-39 win over fellow University side Africa Nazarene University in a 49-39 result.

Terror had to be alert all through as ANU had their moments with the ball. In the end, it was a 10-point difference that determined the outcome.

Terror used their big men to bully the opponents, especially during defensive duties and their execution was spot on while at the same time, their point guards and shooting guards did just enough to help the team stay alive in the game.

In other games played at the weekend, the Sprite Storms ladies’ team saw off UON Dynamites 39-26 albeit in a low-scoring contest.
