Eldoret city volleyball tournament ready for action

Eldoret city volleyball tournament received a boost of Sh1 million from Uasin Gishu county among other sponsors, during the launch of the second edition to be held from November 30 to December 3.
The event will act as both the volleyball national league and thereafter the actual tournament at Eldoret National Polytechnic grounds.
Speaking during the launch held at the county’s headquarters, Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) deputy president who is also the main organiser of the event Paul Bitok said they have invited international teams from Uganda,Tanzania and they were still in talks with a teams from Ethiopia and Rwanda.
“Preparation have been completed just waiting for material day to kick off the event Uganda and Tanzania teams have confirmed, we are Still in talks with a teams from Ethiopia and Rwanda,” Said Bitok.
Bitok was greatful for the Uasin Gishu County government for supporting the event, which is a step that will help nurture talents in the county.
“We are expecting a hundred teams and above. We have greatly improved from last year’s edition,we have also invited Spports cabinet Ababu Namwamba to grace the event,” Said Bitok.
On his part Governor Jonathan Bii said that the upcoming Eldoret City Volleyball Tournament is a commendable initiative that promises to bring about positive impacts on both the sporting and environmental fronts. Its theme, “Promoting Green Spaces Through Volleyball,” effectively captures the essence of the tournament’s dual purpose: fostering a passion for volleyball while advocating for environmental stewardship.
“By attracting both professional and self-supported teams, the tournament provides a platform for volleyball enthusiasts of all levels to showcase their skills and compete in a spirited atmosphere. This inclusive approach not only broadens the tournament’s appeal but also aligns with its commitment to nurturing grassroots talent,” said Bii.
The county boss said the tournament’s sponsorship of sixty teams from underprivileged backgrounds is a significant step towards empowering aspiring volleyball players and bridging the gap between their aspirations and opportunities. By providing financial support and exposure, the tournament organizers are demonstrating a genuine dedication to fostering a vibrant volleyball scene in Eldoret.
