EAC Parliamentary Games: MPs and Senators line up for Bunge FC

The ongoing 2025 East Africa Community Inter-parliamentary Games in Uganda have provided a rare glimpse of the honorable members’ passion for sports.

The Bunge FC has been among the teams that represent the parliament’s male team in the football category.

The team features several MPs and senators from the 13th parliament. Among its results in the ongoing regional games has been a valiant fight in the 2-1 defeat to the Ugandan side in their debut fixture on Monday, December 8, 2025.

Captains

Their best performance came against their Burundi counterparts on Friday.

In the tie, Kenya opened the scoring in the 33rd minute when Aaron Cheruiyot smashed home from the opener.

After conceding an equaliser in the 39th minute, Otiende was again instrumental, as his lofted free kick found Allan Chesang, who applied a deft finishing touch.

The team was co-captained by Rarieda Constituency MP Hon. (Dr.) Otiende Amollo and Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot.

Key Players:

Otiende Amollo:The Rarieda MP furnished proof of his role as team skipper, providing two assists in the win over Burundi. The lawyer delivered a brilliant first-half performance, creating both goals en route to victory.

Allan Chesang: The youthful senator was instrumental in Friday’s win over Burundi, showing tremendous composure to control the ball before firing the winner past the goalkeeper.

Elly Letipia: The Samburu North MP was a crucial part of the parliamentary team’s offensive setup alongside his Trans Nzoia counterpart. He scored a goal in Kenya’s opening game.

Anthony Kibagendi: The Kitutu Chache MP serves as the midfield general, often seen wearing the iconic No. 8 jersey reserved for a powerful player with exceptional stamina and strength—one tasked with roaming the pitch throughout the game, commonly known as a box-to-box midfielder.

Jack Wamboka: The team’s hype man. The Bumula MP is among the team ‘hypist’ tasked with lifting the mood of the team during pre-match routines. His role extends beyond motivation, as he also starts as a dependable left-back—a rare asset for the side.

Aaron Cheruiyot: The Senate Majority Leader is one of the few senators who featured in the starting eleven. The staunch Arsenal fan scored one of the best goals so far in the games.

Sam Atandi: The Alego Usonga MP was part of the team that suffered defeat to Uganda in the opener

Omboko Milemba: The Emuhaya MP is renowned in Vihiga County for his love of football. Having risen to fame as a teacher and through his grassroots tournaments, he continues to showcase his passion for the game. Milemba was part of the team that lost to Uganda.

Clive Gisairo: The attacker has also been a pivotal attacker of the Bunge FC team and featured in the win over Burundi.

Others include Eddy Oketch, the Migori senator and MP Amos Mwago.
