Diana Mbuba, a seasoned lady golfer, secured victory at the Kenya Ladies Golf Union Amateur Championship held at the Royal Nairobi Golf Club at the weekend.

After a thrilling 22-hole sudden death, she emerged triumphant over Mercy Nyanchama, who took the runner-up spot. In Division A, Mukami Mungai claimed the top spot, while Eunice Kilonzo’s exceptional performance earned her the Division B title.

Reflecting on her win, Diana Mbuba attributed her success to her dedicated practice and hard work. She faced tough competition from experienced amateur golfers and looked forward to future tournaments with excitement.

“This victory comes as a reward for my relentless practice and hard work behind the scenes. I expected to shine today because I have been training so hard for this championship. Of course, I competed against some top amateur golfers in the country who demonstrated prowess and experience. I am looking forward to upcoming tournaments and I can’t wait to compete again because golf is a sport I love so much,” she conveyed.

Notably, Florence Maina and Veronica Muthiani earned runner-up positions in Divisions A and B, respectively. The champions category witnessed a strong showing by Ashley Awuor and Nancy Wairimu, who both reached the semi-finals.

The Division A category also saw Caroline Kadikinyi and Benta Khaniri advancing to the semi-finals after defeating their opponents.

Mukami Wangai, the Division A winner, expressed her satisfaction with KCB’s support for women’s golf through its partnership with the Kenya Ladies Golf Union. She called on other corporations to invest in golf sponsorships, encouraging more women to participate in the sport.

KCB is set to partner with KDF for the Commander’s Cup that is scheduled for September 16th at the Great Rift Valley Lodge in Naivasha.
