Delayed FKF Super league set to kick off end of November
By Barry.Silah, November 14, 2022After almost six months in the cold, the National Super League is bracing for the new 2022/23 season to begin in two weeks time with only 19 teams registered.
Following a decision by the returning Football Kenya Federation (FKF) National Executive Committee last Wednesday that the previous season was null and void, APS Bomet FC and Fortune Sacco FC start afresh as title contenders in the second tier league albeit with a pinch of salt after their purported promotion was annulled.
Additionally, two teams begin the campaign on the last weekend of November under new clubs’ names and management. Dandora Love FC and Muhoroni Youth FC have changed their names to Kajiado FC and Darajani Gogo FC respectively after the successful takeover of their club’s Management.
In the new fixtures out, last season’s second-placed finisher Fortune Sacco begin their new campaign against former Premier League side SS Assad who closed the 2021-22 campaign in ninth place.
In the last three matches played between themselves, the two have each won once and the other duel ended in a tie. The match which will be the opener of the newly launched Wanguru Stadium in Mwea, is expected to be a chance for the home team to open their account in a winning fashion to get the campaign on a good pedestal.
