Controversial coach set to manage Harambee Stars’ Olunga

Controversial French coach Christophe Galtier is set to be appointed as Al Duhail SC’s head coach.
Galtier is reportedly close to landing the job at the top Qatari clubs, which Olunga is playing for.
The Qatari champions are set to make a managerial change following their exit from the Asian Champions League this season after a defeat by Iranian side Persepolis on Monday.
Galtier to replace Crespo
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Al Duhail has fired Hernan Crespo and settled on Galtier.
“Christophe Galtier, on the verge of being appointed as new Al Duhail head coach, talks at the final stages with the Qatari club. Hernan Crespo has been fired, and the plan is now to appoint Galtier as new manager if all goes according to plan,” Romano said in a statement on X, formerly Twitter.

The French coach was fired by PSG after winning last season’s Ligue title. His exit from the French giants came at a time when Galtier was facing allegations of making racist and anti-Muslim comments when he was in charge of French club Nice.
He has been summoned to stand trial in December as part of the investigation.
The allegations surfaced after the former Nice director of football, Julien Fournier, released a dossier detailing how the tactician requested that he not recruit many Muslim and black players.
“He [Galtier] told me that I should take account of the reality of the city and that, in effect, we should not have as many blacks and Muslims in the team.
“He told me he wanted to profoundly change the team’s make-up and limit the maximum number of Muslims,” Fournier alleged then.
Galtier’s reaction to claims
The claims caused friction, and Galtier’s lawyers promised they would take action.
“Given the seriousness of the accusations against him, which he firmly denies, Christophe Galtier has asked his lawyer to begin without delay the judicial proceedings, which are all the more necessary given that, since this came out, he has been the target of intolerable threats and harassment,” the lawyer’s statement read.
Meanwhile, should the change happen, Kenyans will be keen to see whether Olunga will maintain top form under a new coach, as he did under the previous one.
Olunga played a key role in helping Al Duhail win last season’s Qatar Stars League title, as he also defended the Golden Boot award.
