Nairobi City Stars defensive midfielder Clifford Ouma Otieno expressed his ambitions to earn a call-up to the national team, Harambee Stars and secure a playing opportunity abroad.

Having made a brief appearance in the first game against his former side, Muhoroni Youth and later serving as an unused substitute in the subsequent seven games, Ouma made a return to the starting lineup in the ninth game against Muranga Seal.

Reflecting on his performance this season, Ouma acknowledged the challenge of regaining a spot in the starting squad, emphasizing the competitiveness among teammates for the same position.

Despite the difficulty, he expressed his determination and hard work to secure his place.

“My season started on a low note. That forced me to work tirelessly to regain my place in the first team. It was not been easy because I also had tough and determined teammates who were also eager to own the same position that I play in,” Ouma told City Stars media.

He went to mention he working hard to get a chance to the national squad with his other ambition being to play abroad.

“My target this season is to fight so hard to get a national team call-up and get some reasonable offers outside the Country.” Ouma added.

Reflecting on the team’s progress, Ouma believes that Nairobi City Stars’ current roster of players is more promising than the previous season. He also attributes the team’s upward trajectory to effective coaching.

“So far I can say we have a better team compared to the last season. Simba wa Nairobi is now made up of a young and energetic group who are working together as a unit. It’s a group that’s ready to learn and demand more from each other,” he said.

“We are giving out positive results due to our able technical bench led by (Nicholas) Muyoti who has been demanding a lot from us as a team,” he added.
