City Stars’ Makati keen to contribute to club’s success after settling in new role

Nairobi City Stars‘ Rowland Makati has transitioned smoothly into his new role as a fullback and is eager to enhance his contributions to the team by scoring more goals.
Previously deployed as an attacking midfielder, Makati opted for a positional switch in pursuit of regular playing time.

Over the course of a season and a half, he has amassed 27 appearances in the premier league, primarily operating as a right back or on the right flank in attacking positions.
This transformation excites Makati, who previously had limited opportunities, featuring in only two games as an attacking midfielder during his initial seasons with Simba wa Nairobi.
Speaking to the club’s media, Makati emphasized the learning curve associated with his positional change, acknowledging the ongoing process of adapting to the demands of his new role.
However, he now feels fully acclimated and confident in his abilities as a fullback.
Despite his progress, Makati aims to elevate his performance further by increasing his contributions in terms of assists and goals for Nairobi City Stars, prioritizing the team’s success.
“I first had to learn the dynamics and the ropes of the new position. That has been a continuous process throughout last season and this season,” he told the Club’s media.
“But now I can say that, finally, I have fully mustered what is required to play in that zone and I now have to admit that I have fully matured and adapted to that role.

“That said, I wish to step up my performance and make more contributions for City Stars in terms of assists and goals for the interest of the team,” he added.
In the current season, Makati has featured in 17 out of 34 games, accumulating 863 minutes of regular playing time with ten starts and eight complete games, marking an improvement from his previous season’s involvement.
However, Nairobi City Stars suffered a setback in their recent match, losing 1-0, which led to their drop from second to fifth position in the standings due to goal difference. They currently stand at 37 points, while
