Cherargei questions Harambee Stars’ winning mentality without financial incentives
By Faith Lagat, October 15, 2025Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has raised concerns over the Harambee Stars’ performance following Kenya’s 3-0 defeat to Ivory Coast in Abidjan on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
In a post on X dated October 15, Cherargei questioned the team’s motivation and reliance on incentives, stating, “Yaani, you mean Harambee Stars cannot win without financial/money enticement? Or was it due to bad weather?”
He also pointed out that Kenya’s international players “didn’t leave any mark on the pitch” and suggested that CHAN players could have been deployed instead. Cherargei noted that substitute Austin Odhiambo’s late entry, 10 minutes before the final whistle, did not alter the outcome.
