Champions Morocco dominate CHAN 2024 individual player awards
Newly crowned 2024 CHAN champions, Morocco, bagged three awards as the curtain closed on the 2024 African Nations Championship edition in Nairobi this Saturday, August 30, 2025, following the final clash pitting Madagascar against the Maghreb nation.
Morocco, who edged Madagascar to lift a record-breaking third title, dominated the individual accolades, with attacker Oussama Lamlaoui leading the best performers.
Top scorer
The brace-hero in the final clash also took home the 2024 golden boot after topping the scoring charts as the tournament’s top scorer with six goals.
The striker came clutch in the final as the Atlas Lions rallied from a goal down to silence the Barea 3-2 in a pulsating final held at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani.

He was joined by his compatriot, Rabie Mohammed Hrimat, who was named the Player of the Tournament. The Moroccan No. 24 bagged crucial goals in the preliminary stages against Zambia and DR Congo as the North Africans went on to finish second to Kenya in Group A.
Senegal’s custodian, Marc Diouf, bagged the Best Goalkeeper’s Award following an impressive display as the last line of defense for the West Africans.

Fair play award
Meanwhile. deposed champions Senegal took home the Fair Play Award for their exemplary behavior of playing by the rules and overall discipline.
Morocco’s crowning cements their place as a dominant force in African football, with the team now ranked as the most successful team in the history of the CHAN competition.
Meanwhile, it marked an anticlimactic end to Madagascar and coach Romuald Rakotondrabe, whose bid for a maiden CHAN success ended at the final hurdle.
The Islanders had finished third in the 2022 edition.
