CECAFA U18 Pool A final standings

After the culmination of the Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) U18 championship pool A fixtures on Friday, Kenya U18 emerged as the frontrunners, securing maximum points.
Under the guidance of Coach Salim Babu, the Junior Stars displayed an impressive performance, maintaining a flawless 100% win record in the pool, accumulating a total of nine points.
Kenya U18 impress in CECAFA Pool
Besides picking wins, the team showcased prowess both defensively and offensively.
In three matches, the young talents found the back of the net ten times. Their most commanding victory was a 5-0 triumph over Sudan.
The second match saw them clinch a narrow victory against Rwanda with a solitary goal, while they defeated Somalia 4-1.
Rwanda secured six points in the pool, winning two matches and suffering a single defeat at the hands of Kenya. They scored four goals and conceded only one.
Somalia earned three points, while Sudan failed to secure any points in the clashes.
Rwanda in CECAFA semis
Rwanda successfully qualified for the semi-final stage, joining hosts Kenya in the ongoing CECAFA U-18 Boys Championship 2023.
In a Group A match played at the Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Kisumu on Friday, the Junior Amavubi dominated Sudan, securing a convincing 3-0 victory.
Didie Ndayishimiye opened the scoring after 37 minutes with a composed finish past Sudan’s goalkeeper Ahmed Alkhdeer. Despite Sudan adopting a highly defensive strategy, Rwanda continued to press forward in numbers.
After the break, Kenedy Hoziyana extended the lead to 2-0 with a converted penalty in the 56th minute, and Jean Paul Irakoze sealed the victory with a goal in the 84th minute.
The action resumes on Saturday with two Group B matches: Uganda facing South Sudan in Kisumu and Tanzania battling Zanzibar in Kakamega. All four teams in Group B currently have three points each.
