Caretaker committee starts FKF ‘laws amendment’

With only 19 days left before Caretaker Committee’s tenure ends, the committee that was gazetted in November last year to oversee the running of football in the country has initiated a process of reviewing the football constitution and was yesterday receiving proposals from a section of stakeholders.

Eight clubs that attended yesterday’s meeting presented their views touching on some of the controversial clauses including accountability, leadership and governance of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF). Chairman of the Caretaker Committee Justice (Rtd) Aaron Ringera was part of the stakeholder engagement which held its first sitting at Nyayo Stadium.

Elections of the federation’s officials also took centre stage during the meeting.

“We have set the motion and this process of constitutional amendment has started. Indeed, we have a tight schedule and so we must ensure that by the time our term ends, everything is set. It is all about discussion and once all stakeholders have their input, the legal committee shall collate everything in the final draft that will be shared with the Ministry of Sports,” stated Ringera adding that it was important that the process is allowed to run smoothly.
