As Harambee Stars readies for their opening fixture of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) on Sunday, August 3, 2025, against DR Congo, the Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has deployed an eminent panel of experts to analyse the match.

Through a statement late on Saturday, August 2, 2025, CAF confirmed that the experts under its Technical Study Group (TSG) will be deployed across Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, where the continental showpiece is being staged.

According to CAF’s statement, the selected group of technical experts will play a pivotal role in assessing tactical trends and coaching tactics during the month-long competition.

Their role will include producing in-depth reports on tactical trends, player performances, and coaching methodologies observed during the tournament.

CAF detailed that the experts’ findings will be shared with the broader footballing community through its online platform

Composition of the team

The team, made up of respected coaches, former players, and instructors, will be led by Senegal’s Pape Bouna Thiaw, who led his country to CHAN glory in the previous edition held in Algeria. His Senegal side edged hosts Algeria in a dramatic penalty shootout in the final, with Thiaw later crowned Best Coach of the Tournament.
