Harambee Stars custodian Bryne Omondi has weighed in on Harambee Stars’ recent call-ups undertaken by coach Benni McCarthy.

Speaking on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, Omondi touted the presence of youngsters in the national setup to motivate other young footballers across the country.

Motivation

“The presence of new faces in the team is a good thing. Most of them are young players, and I think it is a good thing. This can be motivation for other young players that they can also make it to the national team and be part of it,” he said.

Among the youngsters in the Kenyan camp is the Spain-based Kenyan international attacker Job Ochieng. Ochieng, who made his national team bow in the concluded 2026 World Cup campaigns, is currently attached to Real Sociedad B.

Youngsters called up

Others are Aldrine Kibet, also based in Spain with Segunda side Celta Vigo, Baron Ochieng, and Finland-based Lawrence Okoth.

He also weighed in on the Harambee Stars’ friendly itinerary in the upcoming November transfer window following the conclusion of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers campaign, where Kenya failed in its bid to qualify for the global soccer competition.

McCarthy’s charges are scheduled to play Senegal and Equatorial Guinea in back-to-back friendlies.  The team has hit camp in preparation for FIFA friendlies against Equatorial Guinea and Senegal on Friday, November 14, and Tuesday, November 18, 2025, respectively, in Turkey.

Speaking on the friendlies, Omondi backed the encounters to help the national team firm up its preparations for the upcoming AFCON 2027, which is now Kenya’s next immediate target.

Positive outcomes

“We are in the preparations for AFCON, and we aim to get the best out of our preparations by getting positive results from the matches,” he added.

Meanwhile, Aldrine Kibet, one of the youngsters to get the nod in the latest round of call-ups, has spoken out on his experience with the national team.

In an interview, the Kenya U20 midfielder termed his call-up a dream come true.

”Growing up, this has always been my dream. I have been playing while motivating myself over the same; my father has also been telling me that he sees me breaking into the Harambee Stars squad by 2027, so that is true, it is coming. I just want to make the debut and score goals,” he said.
