Brewers intoxicate Gor Mahia to win FKF Super Cup in Thika as new season begins

Tusker FC yesterday achieved a double feat by prevailing over Gor Mahia 8-7 on post match penalties in the premier league curtain raiser Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Super Cup at Thika Stadium.
The ale men, who won the FKF 2020/21 Premier League, came from a goal down to finally put the game to bed.
Incidentally, both teams scored from the penalty spot in the regulation time following fouls for the session to end 1-1 which prompted the penalty shoot-out.
It was Gor Mahia who grabbed the lead in 53rd minute when goalkeeper Brian Bwire was adjudged to have brought down a goal-bound Gor striker Benson Omala inside the box.
Samuel Onyango made no mistake with his kick as he sent Bwire the wrong direction.
Minutes later, dangerous Tusker’s Tanzanian striker Ibrahim Joshua was also upended by Gor defenders while in a scoring position.
He took the penalty himself, scoring past Gad Mathews who had earlier frustrated his efforts in open play.
Gor Mahia new catch Mark Harroison used the match to test some of their newly acquired players with the team’s new acquisition from Kariobangi Sharks Peter Lwasa starting, same as Dennis Ng’ang’a.
For Tusker, regular goalkeepers Emery Mvuyekure and Patrick Matasi did not see action and instead Head Coach Robert Matano opted for Bwire
Boniface Muchiri took the captain’s arm band for the first time and also not in the starting list was Eugene Asike.
Penalty scorers for Gor Mahia were Sydney POchierng, Dennis NgangaFrank Odhiambo, Sandi, Philemon Otieno, Benson Omala and Gad Mathews while among those who converted for Tusker were Clyde Senaji, Bwire, KirengeChris Orochum, Joshua and Jimmy.
