Biron Otieno reveals cup ambitions after joining Shabana

Shabana FC’s new signing, Biron Otieno, has broken his silence after sealing a dream move to Shabana FC.

The former Kariobangi Sharks ace says he is ready to get going after snubbing interest from the likes of Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards to agree a contract with the Tore Bobe.

The swashbuckling midfielder says his move was prompted by the love he has for the club.

Love for Shabana

“I am glad for the opportunity to join this club. I feel like a champion. I’m ready to be a champion again,” he stated. “What made me come to this club is the love I have for this team and how its fans push the team. I also love the players here, like Keith and Masai, among others,” he stated.

Following his impressive midfield performance in the 2025 season with Kariobangi Sharks, the midfielder has vowed to inspire the Gusii-based club to a title for the new campaign.

Peter Okidi’s team finished fifth in the concluded campaign and will be targeting improved tidings in the new season.

Otieno also left a message to Shabana’s fans as he aims to push the team to a top-flight title.

Give my best

“I am ready to play for a club with a huge fan base. I’m ready to chase a title here. I want to tell the fans that I will give my best in the games I will feature for the team,” he stated.

On his relationship with former Sharks midfield lynch pin, Keith Imbali, Otieno relished the chance to feature alongside the Harambee Stars ace.

“Keith is a brother to me, and I’m grateful for another opportunity to play alongside him and be champions again,” he added.

Otieno is among the few recent transfer moves within the KPL after Tusker FC also bolstered their midfield with the signing of Vincent Otieno from Nairobi City Stars.

The club confirmed the news on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, through their official social media platforms, posting a graphic of the new recruit with the caption.

“We are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Vincent Otieno, who arrives from Nairobi City Stars. Karibu Oti,” Tusker stated.

Otieno, known for his tireless engine and eye for goal, was a standout performer for City Stars last season. He finished as their top scorer in the 2023/24 FKF Premier League campaign with eight goals, impressive numbers for a midfielder. In the 2024/25 FKF Premier League season, Owino was also impressive.
