Arnold Origi encourages Harambee Stars CHAN hero Ryan Ogam

Ex-Harambee Stars goalkeeper Arnold Origi has issued a challenge to Kenya’s emerging attacking talent, Ryan Ogam, urging him to conquer the world in the next phase of his career.

In a heartfelt message addressed to the Harambee Stars striker following the conclusion of the African Nations Championship, the Europe-based goalkeeping coach urged the striker to seize his moment and announce his name among the best emerging talents.

Origi played a crucial role in mentoring the player during his early days in the Mathare United Youth Associations (MYSA) and recently posted a photo from the past of himself and Ogam during a past football trip to Norway.

Conquer the world

“You have eliminated all doubts and proven that you have what it takes to conquer the world. Doing what you have been gifted and love to do

While extolling the player’s unique capabilities, Origi implored the striker to keep up with his discipline and focus.

“The quest to conquer the world now begins. A quest that will demand even more discipline, even more hard work, even more humility, and more prayers. And I have no doubts that you will meet all these demands. Well done, Ryan Wesley,” his message stated.

Beyond his impressive CHAN campaign, the question remains whether the highly sought-after striker will extend his stay with the Ruaraka-based team or join the paid ranks of professional football.

Rumuors of a potential move away from Tusker recently arose after his parents met with Gor Mahia deputy patron Eliud Owalo at the latter’s office in Nairobi.

Ogam concluded the league with 15 goals, despite struggling with injuries towards the end of the season. He subsequently earned coach Benni McCarthy’s nod for the continental tournament, where he made a statement with his clinical finishing.

The striker scored two goals in group matches against Zambia and Morocco and also had a contentious disallowed goal, ultimately contributing to Kenya’s elimination from the game in the quarterfinal stages.

Next Olunga?

His sentiments come after McCarthy equally tipped the former Rainbow FC striker as a potential heir to Kenya’s talisman, Michael Olunga.

Speaking on Sunday, July 20, 2025, as Kenya embarked on preparation for the CHAN games, McCarthy backed Ogam to play an influential role in the Kenyan national team.

“Ryan is important to the team; he probably will be leading the line for us when the campaign starts. He can probably be the next Michael Olunga one day,” he told journalists.
