Lewis Ogonyi was first amongst equals in the MX-65 Class during the seventh round of the National Motocross Championship with an all heat’s win in a tightly contested duel on Sunday.

Ogonyi riding Bike No.10 made sure all his take offs were on point and his speed was constant as well, especially in the straight path which earned him a commanding 60 points. However he was always being checked and followed closely by Thuku Waweru who incidentally finished third in the second and last heats with 47 total points in the bag. Ogwe Ngonga came in third overall with 43 points and his best place finish of the day was runners-up in the second heat. Ogonyi however kept his cool and nerves as he navigated the circuit in 12 laps of spectacular racing in a race that saw Ugandan siblings Miguel Katende and Jonathan Katende participate but not classified for nationality reasons..

Meanwhile in the MX-85 Class, similar action was witnessed albeit with fewer riders participating. Ryan Tiren took pole with wins in all heats. The competition was electric as well with Tiren having to be full alert with the likes of Natalie Cherono and Atete Benzinge pushing hard. Cherono who took second spot in the first and third heats just missing out on the front by inches. Tiren was always in full flight mode and his bike was in good shape. Benzinge with 47 points proved a menace as well alongside visiting rider Colin Simonson who was fourth overall but unclassified.

The MX-125 CC also had its flair with Neo Wahome taking charge despite a good battle from his traditional rival Tanav Choda. Wahome won all heats but had to be a step ahead especially from start since Choda was always charging. As a result,Choda took home second with 51 points-nine behind the eventual winner as Ivanca Yongo on 41 points finishing third place after a difficult run for her especially in the first and third heats whereby she finished fourth place.
