Africa Club Championship: KCB set for high-stakes volleyball quarterfinal clash with Zamalek

Former African champions KCB Volleyball Ladies will be eyeing a place in the semifinals of the ongoing Africa Club Championship when they take on defending champions Zamalek of Egypt on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, in Abuja, Nigeria.
The Lionesses booked their spot in the last eight after a dominant 3-0 win (25-19, 25-17, 25-17) over Nigeria Customs in the April 8 Round of 16 clash.
KCB began their campaign in style, cruising past La Loi (DRC) and Sococim (Senegal) in straight sets during the group stages.
They wrapped up pool play with a narrow 3-2 loss to Egyptian giants Al Ahly in a five-set thriller on April 6, 2025, finishing second in their group.
“We started strong in our first two matches, although we fell short in our last pool match against Al Ahly, which was a good test for the ladies,” KCB Head Coach Japheth Munala said.
“We know we’re up against continental giants, and we must show up and play our hearts out if we want to bring the glory back to Kenya,” he added.
KCB’s clash with Zamalek is one of three quarterfinal fixtures involving Kenyan teams.
