AFC Leopards slapped with 2-window transfer ban

By , June 5, 2022

AFC Leopards has been barred from signing any players following a two-window transfer ban issued by the world’s football governing body FIFA.

The ban comes after AFC Leopards registered John Makwata, Cliff Nyakeya, Victor Omune and Josphat Lopaga while serving yet another transfer ban for failing to pay their former captain, Soter Kayumba Ksh1.8 million for breach of contract.

Transfer ban

Leopards found themselves on the wrong side of the football governing body when the Rwandan defender went back to FIFA asking for the total settlement of the unpaid dues.

Leopards, famously known as Ingwe will now not be able to sign players until July 2023.

Sponsorship deal blow

The big blow comes after Leopards and rivals Gor Mahia both lost their sponsorship deal with betting firm Betsafe.

The two local giants and the betting firm signed a three-year deal two years ago and recently ended the sponsorship with one year remaining on their contract deals.

On the other hand, AFC Leopards coach Patrick Aussems has left the country to link up with his family abroad amid rumours that indicate the tactician has parted ways with the club.

Assistant coach Tom Juma will be in charge of the two remaining FKF Premier League fixtures.
