Late goals help AFC Leopards see off Nzoia Sugar
By Joel Sang, March 3, 2024
AFC Leopards added another win to their tally after a 2-0 Football Kenya Federation Premier League win over Nzoia Sugar at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday, March 3, 2024.
The goals were scored late in the second half, with Arthur Gitego and Hassan Beja the heroes for Ingwe.
Gitego, whose life at the den has started on a positive note, scored the opening goal in the 82nd minute before the second one was provided by the former Nzoia Sugar forward.
Ingwe would have opened the scoreboard with a 25th-minute goal, but Jaffari Owiti could only send his effort wide.
Gitego had his first open chance to break the deadlock a minute before halftime, but his final output, after being set through on goal by Cliff Nyakeya, went out.
Kennedy Owino had a chance to score the first goal of the match two minutes after the hour mark, but he could not find the target even after being set through on goal marvellously by Elisa Wekesa.
Clifton Miheso and Boniface Kweyu were withdrawn when Tomas Trucha made the first changes that gave new impetus to the attacking department.
The deadlock was finally broken when Gitego received a ball from Victor Omune and scored.
The second goal of the day scored by Beja assured AFC Leopards the win and a clean sheet, meaning their good run of the year continues.
