AFC Leopards reveal amount collected in match against Talanta
By Joel Sang, August 29, 2023
Football Kenya Federation Premier League side AFC Leopards have revealed the amount of money collected during their match against FC Talanta on Sunday, August 27, 2023.
Ingwe hosted Talanta for their season-opening game that ended in a draw, but on a rather positive note, the home team collected Ksh615,000 from the fans who attended.
The VIP section contributed marginally to the amount collected, as only 153 fans watched the game from that area. 2696 fans followed the proceedings from the terraces as the two teams battled for three points but ended up sharing one each after the goalless draw.
Expectations
Ingwe began their campaign under a new technical bench headed by coach Tom Juma and his assistant Fred Ambani. Hopes are high that the duo can lead the local giants, who last won a Premier League title over two decades ago, to glory.
Given that they were allowed to sign and register players, Ingwe boast a stronger squad than before, and fans expect they can deliver at least a trophy this time around.
After the Sunday draw, AFC Leopards will be back in action on Friday, when they will be hosted by KCB at the Moi International Sports Complex.
Talanta, who struggled throughout last season but avoided relegation, will be up against newly-promoted Shabana FC at Nyayo Stadium. Shabana will be eager to get their campaign on track as soon as possible after an opening-day 1-0 loss to Murang’a Seal.
Matchday two
Meanwhile, two players are expected to miss matchday two actions after receiving red cards in the opening games.
Tusker’s David Odoyo was sent off in the match against Bandari at Mbaraki Stadium on Saturday, a game that the former Premier League champions won by a 1-0 margin.
Talanta’s Lucas Waitere will also not be available after receiving a red card in the last game.
