AFC Leopards have received a major boost ahead of the 2022/23 FKF Premier League season after Jaffari Odeny Owiti resumed training.
Odeny has been out for close to a year following a meniscus and anterior cruciate ligament tear. He picked the injury when AFC Leopards beat Tusker FC 1-0 in an FKF Cup quarterfinal to reach the semis.
Leopards lone goal
Isaac Kipyegon scored the all-important goal in the 36th minute after converting from the penalty spot for the Leopards to win the match.
The player is fit again after completing the rehabilitation process and has joined the rest of the squad for preseason.
“Jaffari Odeny Owiti is back. He suffered a meniscus and anterior cruciate ligament tear in our FKF Cup quarter-final match against Tusker FC at Ruaraka Grounds on 9th June 2021,” the FKF Premier League side announced.
“After a successful surgery and rehabilitation; spending more than one year out of action, he has joined the team for preseason,” he added.
The winger was injured just six months into his new contract with the Leopards. The former Mukumu High School attacker had signed a new deal at the den, which was to run for two seasons.
The former national U23, Emerging Stars winger joined Leopards from former FKF Premier League side Chemelil Sugar in 2017.
Leopards have resumed their training sessions and will be looking to better their performance next season.
