AFC Leopards, Murang’a Seal share spoils in tightly contested clash

The result denied Leopards a chance to move into second place on the SportPesa League table.
Leopards made three changes to their starting lineup, with Kaycie Odhiambo and Samuel Ssenyonjo coming in, and Vincent Mahiga returning in place of Kennedy Owino, Elias Mugane, and Emmanuel Lwangu. Kaycie Odhiambo made his first start for the club, partnering Ivorian Rami Coulibaly, who made his second start of the season.
For Murang’a Seal, Joe Irungu returned to the starting eleven, with Kiplangat dropping to the bench. The visitors showed resilience throughout the match, with their best first-half chance coming from Victor Haki, whose low shot forced a save from Leopards goalkeeper Katasi.
Leopards dominated early, with Ssenyonjo and Hassan Beja combining to create chances, but their attacks were repeatedly blocked. At the start of the second half, Ingwe made two substitutions, bringing in Christopher Koloti and Ronald Sichenje to strengthen their attack, but they were unable to break the deadlock.
Mixed fortunes for sides
This result extends Murang’a Seal’s unbeaten run to four matches, including three draws. For Leopards, it marked their second consecutive game without scoring, following a 2-0 defeat to Mara Sugar in their previous fixture at the Awendo Stadium.
Leopards now sit third on the league table, three points behind leaders Gor Mahia, who have a game in hand. Murang’a Seal remain close to the relegation zone, just three points above it after nine matches.
The draw continues a frustrating run for Leopards, who had hoped to bounce back quickly after their loss to Mara Sugar ended a 14-match unbeaten streak. Meanwhile, Seal will take confidence from their performance and aim to climb the table in the coming fixtures.
