10-AFC Leopards suffered their first defeat of the season, losing 1-0 to KCB Football in their second match of the season at Moi Stadium Kasarani on Friday

Ingwe entered this match following a goalless draw against FC Talanta and were eager to secure their first win of the season.

AFC Leopards opponents’ first

Their opponents, KCB FC, were playing their first match after missing their opener due to their opponents, Kakamega Homeboyz, being away for CAF Confederations Cup duty.

Leopards’ coach, Tom Juma, handed a debut to the former Nzoia Sugar goalkeeper, but the custodian could only manage 45 minutes before being forced off due to an injury in the first half. Maxwell Muchesia had to step in as his replacement.

The first half saw chances for both teams, with Kevin Kimani’s free-kick being parried out for a corner, and the bankers also forcing Katasi to make a brilliant save with their attempt.

On a counter-attack, Jaffari Owiti’s shot flew off target, and Boniface Munyendo’s effort missed the mark as well. Mahiga’s goal-bound attempt was tipped over the bar by KCB FC’s goalkeeper in the dying minutes of the half. As a result, the teams headed into the break deadlocked at 0-0.

In the second half, Munyendo had his shot blocked, and the scoreline remained unchanged. In an effort to turn the tide, Coach Juma made substitutions, bringing in Cliff Miheso and Brian Yakhama for Kimani and Yasin Sije.

Juma also introduced Beja Hasan to replace Owiti. However, just 10 minutes after the third change, Derrick Otanga scored a goal that put the Bankers in the lead. Otanga making his first appearance after returning to the club scored off the a Musa Masika free kick.

The situation worsened for Ingwe as they were reduced to 10 men in the final five minutes when Musa Oundo received a second yellow card, resulting in a red card.

KCB walk away with three points while Leopards stay on a point.
