Gospel musician Daddy Owen has disclosed that he had a meeting with AFC Leopards chairman, Dan Shikanda, during which they discussed potential ideas to propel the club forward.
As AFC Leopards approaches its 60th anniversary, Owen noted Shikanda’s clear vision for the club, backed by strategic plans for both the short and long term.
AFC Leopards land
During their conversation, Owen emphasized the importance of leveraging available resources, including legal land owned by both AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia.
He believes the idea of utilizing these assets to construct a stadium could enhance the club’s self-sufficiency.
“Had a meeting with AFC Leopards Chairman Mr. Dan Shikanda, he genuinely has clear road map to where he wants to take the club, from short term to long term strategic plans. I presented to him an idea that I believe can work for AFC as an entity plus I can open up some new avenues for the club,” Owen said in a statement.
” I thought it was just rumours that AFC and Gor Mahia have legal lands to build stadiums! Today i confirmed its true. A stadium for community clubs will be a huge step in making a club like AFC self sufficient,” he added.
AFC Leopards drought
The 60th-anniversary celebrations of AFC Leopards coincide with a prolonged drought in league victory, spanning 26 years since their last triumph.
Their most recent significant trophy was secured in 2017, when they clinched a 2-0 victory over Kariobangi Sharks at the Kasarani Stadium.
Despite a sluggish start to the current season, AFC Leopards have shown signs of resurgence, securing victory in six of their last eight matches.
