AFC Leopards confirms Nairobi United fixture postponement

By , September 24, 2025

Former Kenyan Premier League champions AFC Leopards SC have confirmed the postponement of their second 2025/2026 season league fixture against newbies Nairobi United owing to CAF assignments.

In a club statement dated Wednesday, September 24, 2025, the 1998 Kenyan Premier League winners announced that the particular clash against Naibois will not take place this week as earlier scheduled. This is because Nairobi United will be hosting NEC FC of Uganda in the second leg of the first preliminary round of the 2025 CAF Confederation Cup at the Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday, September 27, 2025, starting at 4:00 pm.

After sharing spoils with 2009 Kenyan Premier League winners Sofapaka FC last Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in their season opener, Ingwee will next face Posta Rangers, who beat 2008 KPL champions Mathare United 2-1 in their season opening fixture on Friday, October 3, 2025, at a venue yet to be confirmed.

”Our match against Nairobi United, which was to be played this week, has been rescheduled to a later date. Our opponents will be having a CAF Confederation Cup assignment over the weekend. We play our next FKF-PL match on Friday, 3rd October, away to Posta Rangers at a match venue that will be communicated,” the statement said.

Ingwe drop points in league opener

Meanwhile, after the Sofapaka draw, AFC Leopards skipper Ken Owino expressed disappointment after the team got their 2025 league campaign opener with a 1-1 frustrating stalemate. Speaking on Sunday, September 21, 2025, Owino admitted that they just fell short of executing their plan in the game.

“The result is not as we envisaged, as we did not get the three points. We had our plan for the game, but we did not maximise it well for our advantage,” he noted.

Owino has emphasised that the team has picked up its lessons and is hopeful of making adjustments in its next test.
“We now shift focus to the next match. We have noted our mistakes, and we will plan well to make amends in the next match,” he said with confidence.

Speaking before the Sofapaka game, AFC Leopards head coach Fred Ambani said the players are under no pressure this season. He also extended his gratitude to the club’s National Executive Committee for having faith in him with the charges at the den.
