5 a side: Kenya parades final Futsal squad for AFCON Morocco 2026 qualifiers
By Joel Masibo, January 16, 2026The Kenya Men’s National Futsal Team has unveiled a final 14-player squad as preparations begin for the Total Energies CAF Futsal Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2026 qualifiers.
A futsal team is a five-a-side indoor soccer squad, including a goalkeeper, playing a fast-paced version of soccer with specialised roles.
The team reported to camp and will commence training on Friday, January 16, 2026, at the Kasarani Indoor Arena, where training officially commenced ahead of the opening round of the qualification campaign.
Qualification pathway
Kenya has been drawn against Namibia in the first round of the Total Energies CAF Futsal Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2026 qualifiers following the official draw conducted on Wednesday in Rabat, Morocco.
The qualifying campaign will be contested over two rounds, with 18 teams battling for seven available slots at the continental finals, where they will join hosts and defending champions Morocco.
First round assignment
Kenya will begin their qualification journey against Namibia with the first leg on January 23, 2026, and the second leg on January 28, 2026. The aggregate winner will progress to the decisive second round.

Other first-round fixtures include Cape Verde vs Senegal, Cameroon vs South Sudan and Zimbabwe vs Tanzania.
Potential second round challenge
Should Kenya overcome Namibia, they will face Libya in the second round of the qualifiers. The decisive round will also be played over two legs, with the first leg scheduled for February 3 or 4, and the second leg on February 7 or 8, 2026.
Only the winners of the second round ties will qualify for the Total Energies CAF Futsal Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2026.
