Team Kenya has made a dream start to the 2026 World Cross Country Championships in Florida, USA, with a clean sweep of the men’s U20 race.

Frankline Kibet led the convincing performance, sprinting to goldwith his compatriots Emmanuel Kiprono and Andrew Kiptoo Alamasi completing the clean sweep of the podium.

Another Kenyan, Andrew Kiptoo, contended for the fourth position.

Kenya reigns supreme

Overall, Kenya dominated the top ten positions, with all its athletes finishing inside the top ten to secure the team gold. The feat marked the third consecutive year a Kenyan has been crowned champion and the sixth time the country has swept the U20 men’s medals.

Kenya had previously bagged the men’s U20 title at the World Athletics Cross Country Championships in two editions: Bathurst (2023) and Belgrade (2024), with the latest victory in Tallahassee exerting the nation’s dominance in youth sports.

This success comes after Agnes Chebet’s outstanding performance in the senior women’s race, where she obliterated a field dominated by Ethiopians and Ugandans, crossing the line in 31:28 to claim victory.
