Spectators at the 52nd edition of the Africa Concours d’Elegance, set for this Sunday at the Nairobi Racecourse, are in for a rare treat with seven Alfa Romeo cars headlining the event.

These Italian luxury vehicles, which have been in production for over a century, are a rare sight on Kenyan roads, making their presence in this prestigious event all the more special.

Leading the charge will be Avraj Singh’s 1980 Alfasud Sprint, a top contender in the 1401cc-1600cc touring car class, having clinched victory in the same category last year.

Rishi Chandaria, a veteran of the Concours, will return with his 1983 Alfa Romeo Giulietta to compete against Leo Otieno, who will debut his 1971 Alfa Romeo 1750 GTV after a six-year restoration project.

In the rally car class, Fergus Robley’s 1967 Alfa Romeo GTA will face stiff competition from the Khan brothers, with Aslam Khan driving his 1968 Porsche 911 and Farhaaz and Shakeel Khan behind the wheels of their 1975 and 1968 Ford Escorts, respectively.

Kamene Wanday’s 1972 Alfa Romeo Spider will add to the excitement in the open sports car category, where other highlights include Vitafoam Products Limited’s 1966 MGB and Ivo Saio’s 1974 Peugeot 304 Cabriolet.

Motorcycle enthusiasts can look forward to the roar of powerful machines in the over-1300cc street class, featuring the Harley Davidson Tr-Glide from Magnate Ventures, Tumaini Muthiga’s 1999 Harley Davidson and Enzo Amato’s 2002 Honda Goldwing, entered by Uganda’s Pearl Bikers Africa.

Beyond the vehicles, the event will offer spectators a fashion show by Ascili Fashion House, with surprise prizes for the best-dressed attendees.

Meanwhile, the Classic Sale will offer cars and bikes over 25 years old, including a 1970 Mazda 1800 Deluxe, a 1978 Land Rover Short Wheel Base and a 1970 Volkswagen Beetle.

Additional attractions include the Auto Expo, where the latest vehicle models and motor products will be on display, and the Heritage Collection, showcasing vintage equipment and machinery, adding a nostalgic touch to the day’s festivities.
