Kariobangi Sharks produced a remarkable comeback to stun Tusker FC 3-2 in a thrilling FKF Premier League encounter.
The game played at Dandora Stadium, saw both teams battle it out in a match full of drama and late goals.
Tusker lead
Tusker had appeared to be cruising to victory, but a determined Sharks side turned the tide in the second half to claim all three points and leap to the top of the league standings.
The Brewers started strongly, opening the scoring in the eighth minute when Ryan Ogam finally found the back of the net after a goalmouth scramble involving Shaphan Oyugi, who had two shots saved before Ogam finished.
The Brewers doubled their lead in the 29th minute when captain Charles Momanyi headed in a goal from George Kaddu’s long throw, putting them in a commanding position.
However, Kariobangi Sharks came out with renewed energy after the break, and six minutes past the hour mark, Keith Imbali struck to reduce the deficit and give Sharks a lifeline.
With momentum firmly on their side, Sharks leveled the game in the 80th minute when Ali Salim capitalized on sustained pressure. As the match seemed destined for a draw, Salim delivered once more, scoring the winner in the 90th minute to complete an incredible turnaround and push Sharks to the top of the league table.
Sofapaka loss
Sofapaka’s tough run in the league continued with a 1-0 defeat to FC Talanta at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos. Talanta earned a penalty in the sixth minute after a foul by Bramuel Simiyu, but they failed to convert, letting Sofapaka off the hook.
The match remained deadlocked through a hard-fought first half. However, in the dying moments of the game, FC Talanta were awarded another penalty, which Joshua Amunike successfully converted, sealing their first victory of the season. Sofapaka remain winless as Talanta secured three crucial points.
Nairobi City stars and Bidco United played a 1-1 draw.
