“You hoodwinked me”, Gathogo tells UDA after rejoining Jubilee Party
By Mathew.Ndungu, March 25, 2022Jubilee Party has officially welcomed former Ruiru Member of Parliament Esther Gathogo who has defected from United Democratic Movement (UDA) that is led by deputy president William Ruto.
After rejoining the party today, Gathogo revealed that UDA had hoodwinked her that she would be supported to recapture her seat only to later play cards that would have seen her fail at the primaries.
Gathogo who will be vying against incumbent MP Simon King’ara received a major boost after Biashara ward MCA Elijah Njoroge alias Kururia and Eric Ragalo withdrew their bids and vowed to support her.
“I want us to forget all other names. Today I’m happy because I have found the light. I had lost my ways after they confused me but I’m now fully back and ready to support President Uhuru Kenyatta. I want to tell my friends that I will not be swayed again,” she said.
She termed abuses and insults being hurled against President Uhuru Kenyatta allegedly by Kenya Kwanza party leaders as one of the reasons she ditched UDA party stating that she was not taught to insult people when she was being brought up.
“I was not taught to hurl insults against the President and I don’t belong to that school of belief,” she added.
She took issue with the current Ruiru MP for allegedly doing nothing to better the economic status of Ruiru residents stating that her return will see major developments in the area.
“Nothing has been done in Ruiru apart from painting classes. Stop doing campaigns using national government projects that were initiated by President Uhuru Kenyatta,” Gathogo said.
Gathogo vowed to become President Kenyatta’s foot soldier and further rally Ruiru residents to vote for Raila Odinga to move the nation forward.
On his part, Kieni MP Kanini Kega, who welcomed her, stated that Jubilee Party will produce majority seats in Central Kenya and across the country.
“We want to tell our party leader President Uhuru Kenyatta that we will deliver substantial seats in all cadres of political positions,” he said.
