Wiper leader Kalonzo condoles with protests families
Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has sent his message of condolence to the families of Kenyans who died during Wednesday’s demonstrations that rocked different parts of the country.
Musyoka said the victims died while fighting for the country, adding that they were exercising their right to demonstrate as provided in the constitution.
Speaking through a phone call to Governor Wavinya Ndeti, who was addressing a meeting at Kwa Mwaura in Matungulu Sub-county on Friday, June 27, 2025, the Wiper Leader urged the people to remain steadfast in the fight for democratic space in the country.
“I sent my condolences to our people in Matuu, where we lost one person and in Emali, where two people died while fighting for their democratic right to picket as Kenyans,” said Musyoka.
He said he himself was involved in the demos as he and other leaders laid wreaths in memory of those who died last year in the demos against the Finance bill.
Musyoka also condoled those who got hurt during the demonstrations.
He said the time had come for a change of leadership in the country.
He thanked Governor Wavinya for her continued empowerment programmes to the people.
The Governor distributed goats, chicks and chicken feed, fish fingerlings, fertiliser and pesticides to residents.
She also presided over the opening of 200 houses for vulnerable families built with the support of the Habitat for Humanity organisation.
Governor Wavinya said her government was in the process of implementing real development programs for the people and dismissed fundraisers being conducted by the Kenya Kwanza allied Members of Parliament as campaign gimmicks.
Wiper Party Leader Musyoka urged the people to accept the money contributed during the Kenya Kwanza empowerment drives, but not to be swayed to their side
